Had a super day yesterday. We did something really kiddish the first time in 7 years but it was fun!
Ok so we pretended it's a normal work day and left for work whereas we both actually took a day-off and spend the whole day together. Not that it would have been a problem if we shared this plan with Mom & Dad - but it's fun to do things secretively.

Had a leisurely 2 hr lunch at Taj Blue Diamond, did some quick anniv gifts buying and then watched Kal Ho na Ho. We hadn't seen it so far and wanted to watch a real light movie yesterday. Then went home like good children coming back from work ;-).

Best was answering the calls that came while watching the movie. I used to run out and attend them. I shared this adventure with my friends (that's why it comes on teh blog so easily too!) but nobody from the family or connected remotely knows this secret! It will be fun if and whenever they know.

Wonder why doing things "chori chori chupke chupke" add so much spice to life!

Weekends

Sometimes I wonder if it's just me who's weekends are busier than weekdays. Conceptually they are there for relaxing - but I'm practically drained out by Sunday and look forward to coming to work on Mondays! It's definitely fun because I'm doing different things.

This weekend being a long one with Republic day was even busier. Had gone to a party on Sunday, which was for celebrating somebody's 25th wedding anniversary. When I wished the lady - I told her Congratulations because you are smiling even after 25 yrs of being married! Honestly I wonder if I'll be sane till I complete so many years of marriage!! We are completing 7 tomorrow and I already think it's an achievement!

Nothing compares sleeping all cuddled up with your darling child. Yesterday R had to go out with friends for dinner so Ashna and me had fun. We first did the routine bedtime reading from her "new" book and I love to see her getting tired after 4 pages of pictures and the way she tells me "mama bas ab main thak gayee..." The tiredness is all lost when we shut the lights and decide to sleep :-)
Also just love the way she comes rushing to give me a hug and says "Mama main aapko dhoond rahi thi, mujhe aapki yaad aa rahi thi" This is when I've just gone to some other room for a minute or so!

The bond between us grows stronger with every minute and I understand the depth of love for a child only after becoming a mother.

My bro gave me a call the other day and requested me to deliver flowers & chocolates to one army officer, who was admitted in MH Kirkee. I did the duty without knowing what kind of a patient I was gonna meet.
I met Major Jagdeep Singh in MH who had a spinal chord injury. All it took to cause that was a road accident when he was travelling in his Gypsy somewhere in Mizoram. He's lost sensation below his waist and nobody knows if & when it will come back. He was operated in Delhi & brought to MH Kirkee, because of the Rehabilitation centre next to it.
Sometimes meeting people who've had such accidents reminds you how in a second your normal life could change!
He does not know anyone in Pune and has his folks back in Jallandhar. I was probably his first visitor since he's here and it showed how thrilled he was to have someone come and see him.
Anyway meeting him left me in a different world and quite sad that evening.

That was pretty embarassing! I'm a better giver than reciever of claps!
Got a small award at work - but the attention that came with it in the meeting was awkward for me!

Today is Lohri

We are celebrating it with some family friends - after staying for so many years in Maharashtra I've kind of been very far from Punjabi culture. If we know so little, I wonder how much our kids would know! But I'm sure Ashna will have more fun than me at the evening gathering!

Friday Post

Today's been a short day at work. Had a dentist appointment in the morning and there's this office new year party today evening.

News - My Bro's going to Wellington for a year. I feel lucky & proud to have a brother like him. It gets so tough for him sometimes - but that's how he is Tough! (unlike me ;-) !)

Think Twice

Found this poem from FreshLime Soda

It's very much in line with the "Perfect World with Perfect People" that I live in!

Should you feel inclined to ensure
Faults you may in others view,
Ask your own heart, ere you venture,
If that has no failings, too.

Let not friendly vows be broken;
Rather strive a friend to gain;
Many a word in anger spoken
Finds its passage home again.

Do not, then, in idle pleasure,
Trifle with a brother's fame.
Guard it as a valued treasure,
Sacred as your own name.

Do you form opinions blindly?
Hastiness to trouble tends;
Those of whom we thought unkindly
Oft become our warmest friends

Pleasant :-)

Had a good talk with D on this and I spoke my mind to him about how this has affected me. He says if I resign from the Secretary's post even he will resign! Anyway something in the talk made me feel I should hold on... he was imitating how N talks and that was hilarious.

It's surprising - but sometimes a mix of a lil amount of sympathy, encouragement and humor can do wonders! (at least for me!) And that's the exact dose I recieved!

Work wise, we are just done with a major release and in addition also sorted some sticky problems for the next one. But I wasn't too hands on this release and the sense of achievement is somewhat lesser due to that!

I gotto add links to my blog. Also maybe a list of other bloggers whose blogs I read.

unpleasantaries

Yesterday's society meeting was very unpleasant and upsetting. I wish someone taught L & N to speak politely. They make us feel we work for them! It pains my ears to listen their irritating voices. Gosh we are all taking out precious time & doing this work. If it weren't for D's support I would have backed out by now. I don't think I can take more such meetings - for one I can't fight with these people and answer back to their sick statements! Anyway had trouble sleeping last night and am yet not over it.

OK let me think of something positive to wipe this out! Music : Yes that may help recover from this today!

New Year

6 days of 2004 have already passed. Even though any day is just another day, events like a new year induce fresh energy and motivation that add zest to life.

I'm feeling so fresh and enthusiastic to do things that I decided to. The beginning is so good and it's my gut feeling that this is gonna be a great and a fast moving year!

Got the darn society meeting today evening - that's one thing I'm not absolutely enthu about! Huh but somebody has to do it and I'll do my bit for these 3 years.

Ashna's school starts Thursday - end of a long Christmas vacation. Good that she'll be busy and miss me less - bad cos I have to start getting up at 7:30 AM.

So you can speak up too ;) !

My world

My blogs gonna be about my life - most of the nice things and a few of the not so nice :-)

What's driven me to make my blog is that I love making daily (ok almost daily!) notes and looking back on them. Like a blog better than a traditional personal book!

I'd also like to myself look back on lessons learnt and re-live the joys 2!
