comfort of a friend

Piglet sidled up behind Pooh. "Pooh," he whispered. "Yes, Piglet?" "Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you."

Packed Sunday!

Had a packed-with-events day yesterday. Ash & me set out in the morning, there was the ISP club meet, then lunch at a friends house-warming, a quick visit to my parents and back home at 6:00 just in time to drop Ashna for a her friend's birthday in the neighbourhood.

Felt a great sense of achievement :-) Why don't work days feel as eventful anymore! Let me think about how to make this week interesting at work..

On a different note.. saw "Notting Hill" over the weekend and liked it. I know it's an old movie but somewhere in this run (of life) I've missed relaxing and doing what I enjoy - so one action item now is to watch a good movie every weekend. Suggestions on good (no action or horror) movies are Welcome!

I've had Jagjit Singh ghazals (and a few of of/with Chitra Singh) in my ears for the last 10 days almost and I'm not yet bored. There are a lot of single favourites.. In Search however continues to be the favourite album and this hasn't changed over the past 8 years.

I've also been in a very introspective mood lately...

P.S I'm wearing the wrong footwear today .. the kinds which do a loud "Tok-Tok" when you walk on glazed tiles! I better be moving around less today ;-)

Not being able to access work email on a Monday morning just adds to the blues..... Email gets to become like your morning tea/coffee - you don't feel good till you've checked it!

Found this on the company nazm newsgroup - and liked it

Yeh nahi ke ghum nahi
Haan meri aankhein nam nahi

Tum bhi to tum nahi ho aaj
Hum bhi to aaj hum nahi

Ab na khushi kee hai khushi
Ghum ka bhi to ghum nahi

P.S My project groups gone to a 2 day Matheran trip and the silence over here is wonderful.

My 2 cents

Nothing compares to the damage caused by a person with an empty mind!
In my humble opinion, one must never land up in this situation.

Here are some typical unrational and unproductive behaviour that I've seen people with nothing to do get into..

1. Misinterpret and misunderstand every possible thing for no reason.
2. Reword sentences that are perfectly alright with no hidden agenda to cause 1
3. Self-pity to the nth degree
4. Sympathy gathering! Ha.. nobody cares for me!
5. Think more about what others are doing wrong (as per them) instead of paying attention to their own activities.
6. Get into meaningless, repetitive and absolutely unproductive arguments and cause unwanted ripples in the calm sea.
7. Complicate absolutely simple things.
8. Kill the enthusiasm and spoil perfect plans that people around have made.
9. Have an air of "I'm the best and the rest of the world is full of fools."

Ha!! Boy I'm irritated with somebody really hard to write this!
Writing this to just vent out some heat and get back to the calm sea mode :-)

Take care and keep your mind occupied please!

"Got done" ....

...with the Big event of the Annual General meeting of our housing society yesterday. Went pretty well and peaceful compared to last year. On occasions like yesterday I do feel the need to have a louder voice :-) ...to hush those guys who start talking all together and create such a racket. I felt like the school monitor yest, was constantly saying "Silence Please" to a crowd with an average age of > 40.
One more year of my tenure as a contributor and then I'm free from this responsibility for a few more years at least!

I've got my hands in more places that I can manage. I wish for a simpler life so many times. I want to retire early and go away on a small remote island :-)
