Ad-Sense

my 4 year old seems to be fully on Ad's these days - courtesy early morning school in summers , being back home at 11 AM and watching TV with her grandma!

She's amused when people like the "knowledge" she's gaining - but it does not amuse me at all to listen to her "Ek rupai me suljhe baal - Vatika shampoo.." and "Lux cozy" and whatever in the world is the punch line for it! She wants me to use all the products as per her ad-fad now!
Huh! I am like so irritated with this - my existing hatred for the idiot box is just adding fuel to the fire! Now there's a strict boycott - I've told her not to discuss any of her "TV knowledge" with me - to which she says with confidence - "Mama you are doing this because I know more than you!"

Jeez! I really got to do something to keep her away from the tv this summer hols else in no time we will have a new tv-addict in the family, as it is they are in majority!

had a great 3-day refreshing break at mahabaleshwar. I really really need this every 6 months!! :-))

We found a good place to stay too - considering the real short notice that we went at. Absolute good value for money and spacious - something I'd strongly recommend to anyone going there.

Ashna freaked out on the horse-rides - she never got tired of those.

Back to the rut now - but this will keep me going for some days - sorry months :-)

Me: Unleaded for Rs 1000 please!

He shows me the Zero on the metre fills, stops after some time shows me the metre again and asks "Fine?" He's actually pulled the Speed petrol pipe - stopped at Rs 900 and is asking me if it's Fine!!??!! Do these guys think we are blind and dumb? I'm at the Unleaded counter - who in this world asked you to give me Speed -my car does not need your "extra-vitamins petrol" and when I'm saying 1000 bucks - you repeat what I say and yet stop at 900!!

As it is instead of 23 litres I ended up getting 21.x because it's "Speed" but he had all intentions to send me off with just 19 litres! Looters - India is full of them - frustrates me like anything and when you tell them what they did - let the skies fall but they will NOT accept it. I couldn't catch his manager or rather he "said" he wasn't there - but I'm going back in the evening or as many trips as it takes and will talk to the next in line. Hopefully he's not worse than this guy!

slow poison

i unfold each page
as slowly as i see it..
the wait for reading the next page
... kills me
just like reading each page
... induces slow poison
either way i'm dying....

why do i strive to reach out to the distant
...while here you are right next to me.

why do i want to know the unknown
...while you want to share each bit of you with me.

why do i want to be loved by the emotionless
.... while here you are with a ocean full of love just for me.

why do i dream of a stranger each day
.... when it's you with me in reality.

this is funny - and i really liked it! edited a few lines i found inappropriate to put here....

This is for all women 30 years and over.... and for those who are turning 30, and for those who are scared of moving into their 30's and beyond!... This was written by Andy Rooney from CBS 60 Minutes.Andy Rooney says:
As I grow in age, I value women who are over 30 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 30 will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask," What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over 30 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it's usually something more interesting.

A woman over 30 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom.Few women past the age of 30 give a damn what you might think about her or what she's doing.

Women over 30 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated.

A woman over 30 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Women over 30 couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won't betray her.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 30. They always know.

A woman over 30 looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women or drag queens.

Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 30 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one! You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over 30 for a multitude of reasons.Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart,well-coiffed hot woman of 30+, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year-old waitress.

i wrote such an interesting post - saved it in my clipboard and did something and lost it!! blah!

after a considerably short but high "spend-thrift" mood I've jumped into a contrasting "savings-mood" and thinking of the best ways to invest money, financial planning for future and blah-blah. This mood was so influential on the family too that we did the fastest research and booked an appartment here yesterday. Hope our instincts are right and this investment pays off well in the near future!

getting up early packing ma'am off to school and taking a 30 minute nap after that is such a "feel-good" thing! In my next life I want to be the father not mother - sleep straight till 830 - just wake up for a minute when your child comes and says "bye papa" smile in the half-asleep state, say bye and continue sleeping..... !

unaffected

Unaffected by affection or estrangement,
Unaffected by profit or loss,
Unaffected by honour or disgrace,
They are the most precious things in the world.

ever thought about the definition of happiness at 1:30 AM when it's dark and quiet and most of your world is asleep?

don't we all very well know that the key to being happy is taking with open arms all that the world gives you, keeping your eyes open and first appreciating the good things. Not hovering over the missing things in life - Giving all you have and expecting nothing!

Yet why does a small little thing make you forget this fact and make you feel like it's the end of the world at that moment. Is that small little thing the most important thing to have or have you attached unnecessary importance to it?

huh nevermind....

had a great 31st birthday today or is it yesterday already :-) I think over the years i have the best pals that anyone could have. I had a Working holiday today i.e. came to work but all i did was celebrate my birthday with friends, take wishes on phone/email/blog/personally and thanked everybody for their wishes. Oh man what will i do with so many wishes - I'm the blessed one!
